Weishi Wang
Electrical Engineering Ph.D. Candidate
Weishi Wang is originally from China. She was born in the Northeast China. She studied at Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics in China and received a B. S. in Electrical Engineering. Then she completed a Master's degree in Bioengineering at Clemson University in South Carolina. Currently, Weishi is pursuing a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at UCF with a focus on Neuron Engineering under the mentorship of Dr. James Hickman. She is very interested in interdisciplinary projects and likes the intellectual challenge of the work. She believes that a real breakthrough in neuron engineering is going to occur through the creation of functional neuronal circuits and expanding the application into biosensors for brain function. "I like living in Orlando, the weather makes you feel timeless and it helps me focus on my current research. I don't feel too much pressure here comparing living in a metropolitan city. It is a medium sized city, it is a relaxing city. After finishing my Ph.D., I would like to pursue a career in a field which combines my current research in Neuron Engineering with my background knowledge in Electrical Engineering either at a major research institute or in industry."
