Abstract:
Manipulating immune responses to boost or repair the body's natural defense mechanisms is a powerful approach for the treatment of diseases as diverse as cancer, infections, and autoimmunity. Furthermore, modulating specific immune responses (e.g. inflammation) may lead to better acceptance and integration of implanted synthetic materials. Our efforts are focused both on the development of biomimetic biomaterials that direct Immune cell function as well as high-throughput approaches to develop and optimize biomaterials-based vaccines.
